The VAKKI symposium is an occasion for researchers in LSP,
translation, multilingualism and related fields to meet in an
international and multilingual environment. We welcome papers and posters relating to translation theory, LSP and multilingualism. The length of the paper should be 20 minutes (+ 5 minutes of discussion) and the size of the poster A1 (about 60 cm x 84 cm) at least. 

The theme of the 2012 symposium is Languages in Motion but other papers in VAKKI’s research field are also welcome. The theme can be approached in many ways and we hope for varied papers, where language and mobility are investigated from different perspectives. The proceedings will be edited in consultation with a special editorial peer review board (double blind). The symposium publication will be available in printed form and as open access. The working languages of the symposium are Finnish, Swedish, English and German.

The keynote speakers are:

• Ph.D. Katharina Brizic, Austrian Academy of Sciences
• The winner takes it all. Social context and consequences of gaining and loosing languages in migration

• Ph.D. Sebnem Susam-Sarajeva, University of Edinburgh
• Looking for translation where there seems to be none

In addition, The Humanist of the Year will be announced at the 2012 symposium, and this person will give the first VAKKI lecture.

Participation fee:

Participation fee is 125 € The fee must paid until 15th of January 2012. If you cancel your registration after 31th of January, you will unfortunately not get a refund.

The 2012 membership fee is included in the symposium price for members listed in the VAKKI ry. member directory.

Those who wish to participate in dinner on Friday evening must pay for it themselves (35 €) in addition to the participation fee. TYou can state whether you wish to take part in the dinner or not in the electronic registration form.
