Aims & scope of VAKKI Publications (ISSN 2242-685X (PDF), ISSN-L 2242-6841)

VAKKI publishes the academic journal VAKKI Publications and edited volumes focusing on language, discourse and communication in professional settings. The articles are open access, peer-reviewed in a double blind process.

Articles in the VAKKI Publications journal are written by presenters and participants of the annual VAKKI Symposia. The articles are written in Finnish, Swedish, English and German. In addition to the annual VAKKI Publications journal, VAKKI occasionally publishes edited volumes. The edited volumes represent topics that are interesting for VAKKI members. VAKKI Publications is a peer-reviewed open access journal with Publication Forum level 1 classification. In addition, VAKKI Publications is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). For more information about the publisher, please visit VAKKI Communication Research Association’s website.

Open Access Policy

VAKKI Publications provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. No subscription is needed to access the articles and no download fees are charged. Authors are not charged for publications in this journal, neither submission fee nor article processing fee.

Editorial board and editors

The editorial board of VAKKI Publications consists of members of the executive board of VAKKI. The editor-in-Chief is the lead editor and ultimately responsible for the academic content of VAKKI Publications. The Editor-in-Chief is a member of the editorial board and supervises the editorial team in the case there is one or more associate editors (Editorial Team members in 2023). The editor-in-Chief delegates work to the associate editors and may deputize some decisions to them.

Our peer review policy

The Editorial team calls for full-length manuscripts for the annual conference publication. In order to be accepted for publication, we expect that manuscripts state the aim, theoretical background, data and method (for empirical papers), findings and conclusions. Manuscripts that have already been published will not be accepted.

Manuscripts will be selected for publication through a double-blind peer review process, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The journal has a pool of qualified referees from institutions of higher education.

VAKKI’s policy on archiving publications in parallel repositories

After the VAKKI Publications manuscript is published by VAKKI, authors are recommended to publish their article in their own university’s institutional Open Access repository or on other sites, such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu or LinkedIn. The repository version is allowed to be the final article that also appears in VAKKI Publications. The link to the original article on the publication platform of VAKKI must be given. The author may publish the article as part of her/his thesis, even if the thesis is an online version. If necessary, submitted and accepted versions of manuscripts may form parts of doctoral theses.
